Day 38: Idaho Springs, CO - Boulder, CO (82/150)

Boulder here I come! Today's ride should be relatively short without too much climbing in order to be in Boulder in time. I figured there would be a little over 1000ft of climbing today... in the end it turned out to be over 4000ft :p

After an early start the first part of the route took me along the very scenic Central City Parkway for a steep climb out of the valley. After a steep descent into the old mining towns of Central City and Black Hawk followee another climb onto the Peak to Peak Highway. The following road was rolling with lots of climbing and descending and off course there was a strong headwind for a change. Finally I reached the town Nederland (yes, really, that's what it's called).

After Nederland all that was left was a long descent through the beautiful Boulder Canyon into Boulder. There it was surprisingly easy to find Jon's place. It's really cool to see Jon again in his natural habitat and also a nice thought to have some rest days for a change.

After a quick shower and dressing up in some orange garments I borrowed from Jon, we went downtown to watch the Netherlands - Argentina match. We watched in a bar with some university friends of Jon, only to see 'us' loose after penalty kicks. The beers tasted good though :) Afterwards we went to have dinner at a micro brewery close to Jon's place. As I had a tough ride today and Jon had a late flight yesterday, we decided to do no partying tonight, but instead watch the Game of Thrones season 4 finale.
